Morris' skill in Vietnamese Lacquer paintings have been acquired from skilled artisans practicing in the arts of Vietnamese Lacquer paintings, during his visits to Cambodia & Thailand. All feature layers of gold leaf under the painting. Various textures, comprising of duck egg shell, abalone and mother of pearl, are sealed within multiple coats of lacquer, to preserve the paintings for a thousand years.
